Default 180 stat or not?

I am unsure if I have a 180 stat or not. Because I bought this truck used I am not sure. My ECT on my Trinity always reads about 203. But the gauge on my cluster never goes as high as the middle. It is always below the line. I would like to throw the 180 in there but not if I already have one in place. If I do need one than is there a real difference in the Jet 180 and the Autozone 4128?

If you're not sure if you have a 180 T-stat, then change it out and you'll know 100% then. IMHO if you're reaching 203F the you probably have the OEM T-stat.

Probably a stupid question but once I take it out how will I know if it is not 180*? And once I install the Jet 180 will I have to change anything in my Trinity? I do not have an efan...yet.

You can run a 180º stat without a tuner or E-Fan mod,
but you will get the best results with all three.

Set your cooling fan on temps to about 185º-190º on your Trinity

T-Stat test...You can boil some water on the stove,
heat it to about 185º and check with a thermometer

Then pour into a bucket and drop the T-Stat in and see if it opens
If it needs water at almost 200º to open it, its a stocker (205º)

So the Trinity can actually tell the mechanical fan to turn on at 185*? I was under the impression changing the fan temp setting was only for the efan guys?

Yup, The Stock Ram still has an E-Fan in addition to the clutch fan,
not as powerful as the BIG V6 E-Fan but you may as well use it if the stat opens at 180º ...right?

That's the AC fan right? I really wanna install the Taurus efan but I don't think Im electronically inclined enough to figure that all out. But as soon as I get the Jet 180 delivered I will change that on my Trinity. Thanks for the tips!

Just realized you have an 07'
Ya the Taurus fan is a popular mod on the 3G's

Doesn't take any skillz to do the 4G e-fan mod,
plug&play same pigtail connection as the stock a/c e-fan.

edit: LOL Chris and I just had the same oops,
note to self, read OP's profile before answering
