Decided on the 2013 just trying to decide between short box and long box. How heavy is your trailer? The long box I am looking at has the 3.42 and the short box has the 3.73. Wondering which way to go? How long is the CC Long Box?

I went with a CC short box which is 6'4" and 3.42 gears. The CC long box is 8'. Our boat + trailer is 7300lbs dry. After loading it with fuel, water, and gear we're over 8500lbs with a length of 28'.

I wasn't aware of any diesels having the 3.73, I think only HEMI's have access to 3.73 in the 2013 line.

I just figured out today 3.73 is standard but when you add the CTD you get the 3.42 gears and that is it. Hopefully new truck in the garage tomorrow afternoon.

Back from a long weekend of camping. Had a great time except for towing. Still have the 2011 1500. Very windy coming and going. Plus rain on the way home. Talking with others on the camp ground thinking of going to a 3500. Lots of 12 3500 new. Seems like a lot of people were waiting for the new Aisin Trans. I am self diagnosed waffler. I will spend more to do it right the first time. What kills me is my wife asking why I didn't buy the bigger truck when I bought the 1500.

After looking into campers I regret not going for a 3500. My 2500 is only occasionally used (Lately more so because diesel is $.50 less per gallon than gas..). I've had it for several months and only put a few thousand miles on it (Which includes a 1200 mile road trip).

With that said, if I take a new job (Fingers crossed) I'll lose my company car and it will become my daily driver. I'm looking at a two hour commute round trip to a new job (Pay is moorree than worth it), something I don't want to do in a 3500.

All goes to how much you'll be driving it. We have roads here that my 2500 has issues fitting on, I would even try to take them in a 3500.

Just curious-what types of problems did you have towing with the 1500? I think a 2500 CTD would serve you well-when you say a 3500, are you taling a dually or a singe rear wheel?

I, too, am a self diagnosed waffler-I'm glad I'm not the only one. I went back and forth on the 1500 vs. 2500, and I don't tow much yet!

Deathrend: we aren't that far apart. I'm in Northwest Arkansas. You talking about a 3500 SRW or a dual rear wheel? I drove a dually, but just couldn't see myself running around with (4) tires in the rear. What kind of camper do you have?

If I'm going with a 3500, it's going to be a DRW. I test drove an F350 DRW that was a steal of a price, but I couldn't do it around town.

2500 vs 3500 SRW is just an extra spring, my understanding. I'd rather add my own aftermarket. My 2500 isn't a speed demon, so I don't see the sway being a huge issue for me. Unloaded I rarely brake 70, I can see myself going much over 60 pulling something overly large.

Thus far I've pulled a few dump trailers pushing the weight limit of my truck, I've yet to try anything that's also a sail. I am looking at a 40' 5th wheel though..

Horseman could not respond to PM do to post count. Love the Camper, only problem so far is low point drain missing a plug first time out. The fit and finish was great will buy another Coahcmen in the future if the need should arise. The 2500-3500 debate ends with the 3500 because of similar price but better tow capacity. We bought the bigger trailer because it was what we wanted even though we were unsure on towing. When I buy the next truck it will be big enough to upgrade trailer if we choose. The DRW Vs SRW will come down to what deal the dealership will make.
