I just got a 2010 Ram. Used to have an 06. Do i need a new wire harness for the 2010 or can I use the same one? I wont be able to look for a couple days and im curious. Thanks

You may be able to go to the Etrailer website & compare the Tekonsha numbers

Word of advice.... Look into a factory ram brake controller.

My truck may be a one off electroic eater, but it has fried 3 Techonsha Prodgity controllers wih appropriate wiring from mopar. (good thing there covered for life)

The unit will function fine as needed, but fries within 6 months of being left connected.

My new 2012 2500hd has the facory controller with no issues for 17000km.

Sounds like OP already has the Tekshona break control unit and wants to transfer it. My 2012 has not fried my Tekshona Prodigy 2 (so far and knocking on wood).

You definitely need a different harness. Up to 2009 was the same but the harness changed for 2010 (again in 2013). You could buy a pigtail from Ram and splice to what you have but personally would buy the correct Tekonsha harness. It will probably be cheaper and no messing with splicing.

I already had a Prodigy as well. I still opted for the clean easy install of the factory controller. For $120 you can't really go wrong.

I debated this myself. I have a less than year old Tekshona Prodigy 2 from my pervious vehicle and was torn between keeping and using a BC I already own vs the clean look and function of the factory. In the end I decided to put those $ into other mods. I have to say while I might have prferred the factory BC, I really do not mind the placement and look of the Prodigy. I do not think there is a right or wrong answer except what works for the individual.
