Default torque converters

Well we all know one of the selling points of the R/T is it's 2600 tc. But just how good is it? Would I see that much of an improvement with say 3000 aftermarket one? I've seen some guys running 3400 one's but I don't want to loss the driveability of the truck.

Even an aftermarket custom built billet 2600 stall will show improvement over the stock converter.

The stock 2600 , last time I looked had some plastic internals (stator)
Go to a 2800-3000 stall from Edge or Circle D and it will drive just like stock for normal driving until you push it past half throttle in a hurray then you'll light em up at will...



ease into it and it's very streetable at 3K

Agreed. Having a fully billet TC is a great thing, especially if you plan on pushing it at the track. You can get whatever stall you want with them as well, which means you can match your stall to your optimal RPM. For mine I went with a 2800 Circle-D as it matches the stock VVT cam/gear ratio very well when boosted. I like to keep mine below 3200 just because of where the peak torque is, I don't want to be hitting the trans that hard, even with the built one in there. Same reason I'm going centrifugal rather than roots/twin-screw.

I believe he had to compromise while he was choosing TCs. Having the capability to tow his equipment trailers. Glad it worked out for him
