I suggest you be polite and to the point, explain the issue and what you expect from them (which at this point is just identifying the issue and notifying Chrysler that your truck has it). The device guys at your dealership didn't cause the issue, no need to throw anything in their faces. Get the issue documented so that you're on the list to get new hoses, and wait it out. Be pissed at Chrysler, they're the ones who failed to test the new coolant and hoses. The dealership is just your conduit back to Chrysler engineering. You want them on your side.

Went on with his business of logging my OC. So I mentioned it again and informed him what the problem was, reaction of bad rubber and Radiator fluid. To which he says, "definitely smells, I will check with Bill" ok Bill must know everything. So the OC is finished I pay my bill, Bill was standing there and says, "i never heard of that smell thing but it does smell". No offer of help whatsoever. A simple, "I will look into it for you" would have done nicely.

I went to the truck vowing to find a new service dealership. I get in the car to smell a new smell, Cigarette smoke!!!! I dont smoke and HATE the smell WTF? No offense to smokers, your choice but dont do it in my new truck.

I drive away windows open, for giggles I check the EVIC to see if the Oil data is re-set. ANY GUESSES? Yup you are right, it is not reset. I drive around and back in the bay, 2 people come to me, the mechanic that worked on it sulked into the corner. I tell them the problem, they get in and reset it. WHile doing so they begin to tell me how to reset it myself?.....I stop him in the middle of the instructions and say, "But should I REALLY need to know that? Shouldn't it be done ALREADY? I have never heard of this problem, the customer being required to finish the job?" Drive away....

I have to tell you this is my first domestic car since about 2005. If you have ever owned an import the one thing I found is that the customer service experience experience is top notch at those dealerships. From the people that work there and how they treat you to the amenities and facilities. Nothing compares. At the volvo dealership I had my own mini office to work at while I had things done, today I had to battle with F*&ING Sponge Bob in a nasty waiting area with some mom and little kid.

I took my truck to Tri Star today and they were to look for the problem. I gave the Service Advisor all the info I had and knew about it. Called him at 4:45 Pm and asked what they found. He said he and 3 others looked and sat in the truck but could smell nothing. I again asked if the engine was at operating temperature. He said, You mean it has to be running? I told you stupid as a BOX Of ROCKS! I might just go in tomorrow and take it out of that Hell Hole they call a Dealership! I might just fix the damn thing myself and back charge the factory. I'm going to Call that factory number tomorrow and see what they say! I am Pissed!

My 2014 is on order so I have no point of reference here, but just curious if you didn't replace the hoses and just flushed the coolant and swapped it out with good "ole" Prestone, does the smell dissipate?

Seems that if it's a reaction between the rubber and the new style coolant, if the you take away one of the reactants, then the reaction should cease. Would take a complete FLUSH to accomplish this, but it seems like it would work.

Wow that hurts! Way to back out of a sticky situation! NOT. The word Jap is a bit more offensive than your limited little mind allows you to believe. Stop being so hard on yourself your not as stupid as everyone thinks you are. I assume you are an employees of a dealership and I hurt your feelings? Why else would you attack me for simply sharing a story of a stinky truck?

'14 here... no odor, just that new-car smell...

I don't know what the truck sale numbers are for newer Rams, but it's in the thousands- This appears to be a more isolated problem than widespread... If the latter, then I'd suspect a TSB would be issued.

Yes I agree. I have no oder at all staying in the truck other than the new smell. But smell Propane at Idle speed or lo speeds. May have found the issue with the Yellow cap. Will advise all as soon as I can put to test. This truck is in garage and not driven every day. Will check it out this weekend or perhaps by Friday
