I spent another 45 minutes on the phone with RamCare, she conferenced in the service manager at my dealership. The thing that bothers me the most is whenever I call on this, I always get "hmmmmmm, nope... we've never heard of this before. I told them the smell is now in my interior and leather jacket. I'm driving around a very expensive fish tank. I personally don't think it's any chemical reaction, I just think this OAT crap smells HORRIBLE and when heated up, the hoses release fumes or something like that. The dealership is going to verify with Chrysler in writing that the system can be completely flushed and filled with NORMAL coolant. I understand others that state the rubber hoses stink in general but i highly doubt they smell like OAT coolant. I will post again once I hear back from dealer.

in my opinion the dealer or Chrysler has no clue what to do. But they have to try something.

Ha ha!!! lil blow for ya nose!!! LOL!!

The Mo. Co. is going to say they have the Engineers on it for about how ever long it takes for the Heating and cooling to burn the crap off the hoses (that you have told us about) so they can save some change!! Healing oil and Pissy soap seems to work. LOL

I received an update yesterday. I have been clearly told that the hoses are the issue, and that they are reacting with the OAT coolant.

New hoses have been made that do not react. That is the delay. The solution is new hoses and coolant overflow bottle, power flush the system, then refill with fresh 2013 OAT coolant. They will not be going backwards to the 2012 HOAT coolant.

Got confirmation from dealer with a Star Case. New to Chrysler so not 100% sure what Star Cases are exactly. Assuming it is internal dealer technical assistance.
Case #: 1307000003
Release Date: 10/24/2013
Talks about the foul smell and that it is a reaction between OAT coolant and the sulfur cured hoses. They are not recommending repairs at this time and that engineering is working in a solution. Direct from Chrysler: "although the issue is bothersome it has no effect on the durability or longevity of the cooling system components"

Tough introduction to my first Chrysler vehicle.

Ya I hear ya....I went through similar with Chrysler Canada...them don't seem to be willing to bend over to help you...actually with my issues that I had I got the distinct feeling of being bent over myself....lol
Keep pushing the issue and they'll give you one free oil change due to your "bad experience" (though they won't say it's because they messed up)...and I know that the oil change isn't going to fix the current problem and is almost an insult...but thought I'd let you know...

When I was in the dealership business it was common for the personnel to play "dumb" about known issues unless they knew you well enough to disclose such stuff without using it against them. Lawyers, unscupulous and just hungry, folks, are everywhere and aren't an insignificant cost of doing business.

Having said this it is also bad form to play dumb when something like this, a friggin smell straight from bizzaro-land, is pretty established. I still can't see a definite pattern to the equipment but it does seem to happen more often on the vehicles with the active shutters...but there are some exceptions too...anybody got a definite cause yet??

Chrysler contacted me 11/14/13 said they knew of issue, but no fix yet. Why are others on waiting list for parts ? I am extremely pissed and will be visiting dealer and contacting Chrysler again. (will be visit # 4 for same issue). Does anyone have the e-mail address for the V P of quality control ? Might be helpful if everyone lets him know .
