My stinky truck update : I traded off my 2014 1500 for 2014 2500 with a Cummins motor. I worked will my dealer, I didn’t get a full return value on it but it was close enough “ok lets do it”. I can’t be happier that I’m out from under that mess.

My truck is still on order. I've looked at most of these 64 pages and it looks like all of this stink is only with the gas engines. Does anyone have an eco-diesel with this problem?

No for me, I've owned mine for 2 months now, and I've put 10,500 km on the odometer.

I have not posted here before, but have been reading about the odor in the rams. I bought my truck back in February. I started having the propane smell in march. To make a long story short, after multiple attempts to repair the burnt smell after the initial flush and new hoses, Chrysler gave me a new truck last week. I deleted the above post because I was receiving messages from other members asking how I got a new truck and they can't. I don't know if it was the dealer, Chrysler rep or who but I am satisfied.

Default Good Response So Far

Hello everybody,

We just bought a 2014 Outdoorsman 1500 Hemi last week. The dealer had to get it driven down to their dealership, and with the miles we put on the truck we are now around 600. After a slightly longer drive, we parked the truck in the garage and noticed "a smell" that was certainly unique from other brand-new vehicles we have purchased in the past. Being a holiday weekend, I didn't expect the service department to be of much help, so I took to the internet and found this thread. You can imagine my surprise to find out that my truck has the potential to start smelling poorly. This morning I politely replied to an email from the general manager of the dealership mentioning the smell, and he immediately called me back. He asked that I get the truck in at my earliest convenience and they will replace all the hoses and flush the system, as well as provide me with a replacement vehicle until the work is done. He immediately brought up the incompatibility with the way some of the hoses were cured and reacting with the OAT coolant, and that they wanted to fix the problem before it got worse. So glad that there weren't any problems with my complaint, especially with what I've seen some of you have gone through on this thread. I'll keep you guys updated.

Joseph

What type of MPG are you getting?

I just got back from 2860 mile road trip from California to South Dakota and back, hauling 1800lbs both ways in the bed. At 75mph I got 19mpg. I getting 22-23 on everyday driving.

I'm averaging around 27.67 MPG (8.5L/100km) when I am driving "normally" and when I am being gentle on both the gas pedal and the speed I've gotten it down to 31.36 MPG (7.5L/100km). For the latter I was averaging about 52MPH (85km/h) for about 217 miles (350 km) of very curvy hilly 2 lane regional highways. I'm VERY interested to see what my upcoming drive from the Toronto area to British Columbia returns in numbers.

Sidenote: I'm almost at 9320 miles (15000km) on the ODO now.. and just about to get the first oil change. Oil life is around 16% life left.

I've always wanted to do that drive. I'd love to hear about it when you return, or even along the way.

Currently there is no return date planned.. I am moving!

Now, if I can figure out how to get my Contour + 2 camera to time lapse record... I plan on recording the trip!
