Default 2013 RA4 radio problems; suggestions? Also door speaker replacement suggestions

I know this is mod forum and I would also like advice on replacing the speakers in the doors. But thought the folks that post here would be more likely to know a solution to my problem. I have the 9-speaker "premium" system with 8.4AN radio.

Every 30min to an hour my whole left side audio fades out (radio or sat). Does not, to me, sound like a loose connection as it appears to not change when hitting bumps. Does this sound more like an amp problem? I hate to take it to dealer as I am afraid they will screw up something going into the dash.

I assume it's an amp issue as well, and since it's under warranty, I'd take it to the dealer.

Check out the sticky for 4th gen alpine speaker specs.

If I were you, I'd replace the speakers with Alpine speakers. The stock speakers are paper cones, and aftermarket alpine units would be much better quality, and in the end you'd still have an alpine system, only a better one than stock.

Thanks for the reply. It is an interesting problem in that it doesn't appear to be heat related - kinda looks like it would go ahead and fail but listened to it for an hour yesterday and it didn't drop out.

For anyone that has replaced these speakers what part numbers did you use? Guess I better get the radio/amp fixed first otherwise the dealer will want to blame the new speakers for my problems.

Just thinking simple does your radio have an auto adjust for out side noise ?
you know when the noise in the cab gets louder the radio goes up, or when it gets quiet the radio lowers it self... just trying to think outside the box here.
If so try turning it off

There is an auto loudness for speed; I made sure it was turned off.

Today I realized I made an error in my thinking as the problems had all occurred (at least I now think so) when the GPS system was on. Today I didn't have it tracking and the stereo sounded OK. I turned on the GPS and it immediately started doing this - cutting out the left side audio then it comes back. I think it correlates when the gps is attempting to talk but I hear nothing. So now I am thinking it not an amplifier as I originally thought but a short from the pre of the GPS. I don't know the flow of the unit - how many inputs go to which amp. I did change levels of the gps vocal but it didn't make a difference. If the GPS system has a different pre-out it could be a connection but I think the mixing is internal?
(8.4AN/Alpine)
Probably means I am going to have to have a new radio - which of course they have none and no idea when the replacements may ship as they are backordered due to so many failures.

If I mute it I then would not get my $45,000 spoken directions. I often depend on the spoken directions.
But yeah, that would probably make the problem of cutting out the left side audio go away. I will try that tomorrow. But gonna have to get it fixed.

In the Navagation settings menu there is a place to adjust the volume.

In the menu you'll see guidance tap that, then you'll see nav volume adjustment. I'm guessing your volume is way down and there for not hearing the navigation voice. Even if the volume is down it will still lower the left side of your speakers during music playback, you can turn it off altogether or raise the volume to hear navigation prompts.

From my post above: "I did change levels of the gps vocal but it didn't make a difference"
So that is not the problem - I tried it on max and still nothing.
