Default brake controller install

Anyone put an aftermarket brake controller where the factory controller would be fitted in the 2010's?

I am thinking of cutting up my bezel that has a storage spot, and try to put my brake controller there. I am just a little worried that it might not look that great?

I just installed My Tekonsha Prodigy P3 in my Ram. It looks pretty good. I picked up one of the dash panels for the factory controller, and modified that for the P3. It cost me $10 from the dealer. You will also need some metal banding to make brackets. The factory controller plate already has some clip nuts that you can use to attach to.

When I bought the truck, it had one installed in the factory storage compartment there and it looked, and was done like crap.

I can get some pictures of how I did it and post them up. It took maybe 1/2 hour to make and popped right in like an OEM piece would.

Cool, pics would be great. I just bought the factory brake contoller bezel off of another forum member. That should make things a lot easier.
I will probably mess with my controller install this weekend.

Does it wire up easily to the 09 harness?

I installed the same controller but just tucked it up underneath the dash. I can't access it while driving but I set it and forget it anyway. I would like to see how you mounted it in the factory compartment.

I don't like the look of my controller in the factor bezel/panel. I was reading up on the factory controller and it appears that they can be installed in the 09's with a few mods. It seems that some have even been able to activate the EVIC. You can get the factory controller for a little over $100, so I may go that route?

They wire up easy with the adapter cable. You can get them pretty inexpensively through etrailer and other places. Sorry I havent gotten the pics yet, the camera on my phone died and I have been very busy at home. Ill see what I can do tonight.

I did buy a factory controller and I have a blue flat 4 pin connector, but the controller does not come on. I hope I just got the wires wrong, since I am just using spades on the controller itself.
