Default My jalopy build thread

So I picked this truck up for a song. New motor and trans, interior is mint minus the ash tray... $3,000 well spent.

So what better to do than throw all the cheapest crap you can find on ebay and swap meets??? You know you've wondered if this junk is worth checking out...

First, HART zinc coated drilled and slotted rotors.
Kit came with all 4 rotors and pads for $230. They fit great, no problems with the install. I'm happy with them so far.

Next is a pair of knock off black housing headlights. $60
Install was way easier than taking them out. They look pretty good imo.

Picked up this cold air intake for $44. Surprisingly it is almost identical to an AEM unit I had on a 6.0 Sierra. I'm impressed, just need to do a couple things to make it just right.

I'm waiting on a bunch of crap to come in, it needs tires and cleaned and lots of odds and ends... but it's gonna be fun to junk it up as I go l. I'll throw the double din in tomorrow.

Sorry about that. I looked around to see where the best place to post it would be. Thank you for moving it.

No worries, I like your idea for this and I think it will turn out awesome. How have you found for the performance of the stuff you have changed already? Like the rotors and brakes and the lights are they nice and bright?

I haven't had a chance to real world test anything yet. I still need to break in the rotors. I don't imagine the CAI will make any more power than the stock box. But its no race truck either. Headlights are way better just due to the stocks being so cloudy. I'm going to pick up some new bulbs tomorrow, no HID's. They look good, they're just not my thing.

Finished the rears this morning. Bought a pair of Sylvania zxe bulbs for the lights, thoroughly unimpressed in the dark garage test. Not worth $55...

Got the new rotors broken in and I couldn't be happier with the brake set. $90 more than the cheapest replacement set from auto zone for drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads.

This is a great theme for a build! I'm interested in seeing where this goes. Good looking truck!
