Default 2013 R/T Alpine stereo comments and questions

I have not been to impressed with the Alpine stereo and after reading around this site many are not impressed either. I removed the center speaker today and I think it sounds better, but still very dull sounding. I am going to change the other dash speakers with either the JL' s or the Infinity Kappas. Anybody try the Infinitys?

Does anyone no the crossover frequency in the dash speakers? Thanks

I just installed 3 Polk Audio DXi350 speakers in my R/T.

Made a nice improvement. Check out Crutchfield as the wiring adapters are included. I listened with the center speaker removed, but I liked it better with the center active. Probably a matter of personal preference.

I also ordered a pair of Kicker 40CS654 for the doors, but now, I'm not sure they are necessary since the fronts sound really good now and blends nicely with the four other speakers. I'm going to install them anyway to see if there is improvement. If there is, I will probably order another pair for the rear.

I don't know what the front frequency is for the dash speakers, but I would think that any 3.5 inch speaker would work fine if they fit.

The Polks fit just fine. Only took about 45 minutes to change them out. If it was easier to get to the fasteners it would only take about 20 minutes.

The upgrade is worth it. The speakers that I took out were made in China junk.

2nd on the Polks. They have a resistor that comes with them to block the bass they should play. Got mine from Cructchfield on sale for 29 bucks shipped and that included with the wire adapters. They sound good. Really seemed to bring the soundstage up. I really couldnt hear the stock speakers before. They made a huge improvement! Give them a shot!
