Default pinging

My 2009 Power Wagon has the pinging, sounds like a tin can full of BB's rattling around under truck, issue. It does it worse when I'm under load going up a hill. I don't know if this helps but it starts at 80f load that shows up on my tuner and gets better if I gun it. The other day I was pulling my boat (not a huge boat, 16 ft aluminum) going up hill and the pinging started and then it started making this hideous clicking sound. I gave it some gas and it went away.
Anyway, I've been hearing this pinging since I bought the truck at 38k miles, now has 75k. I changed to premium gas and ran through a few bottles of techron and installed a bully dog tuner. It got some better but I'd like to get rid of it if it's possible. It bugs the #$%^ out of me because it sounds bad and feels sluggish. If I could get rid of the pinging this truck would be perfect. Otherwise it bothers me bad enough to trade.

Any help? Thanks in advanced!

Are you towing with a performance tune? You can't do that, that will definitely cause detonation(pinging). With performance tunes you can't have a heavy load on the engine. Also, are you using 87 octane when unloaded and on stock tune? Higher octane(89 is recommended for the hemi) should help. Especially being a power wagon which I assume is a heavier truck(more load on the engine).

Are you sure the pinging is going away under throttle, or you just can't hear it over the engine.

Check for loose items that could be rattling sounding like the engine. Maybe the catalytic converter shield, or something like that

Why do I need to go back and read the post? I'm trying to see what tune he is using(performance vs tow). Some people don't know or don't read the warnings on the tuner that you can't tow with a performance tune.

Like me......... Thanks for the heads up. Where is this warning anyways because BD's documentation sucks!!

My input:
I ping no matter what octane and tune combo I choose with BD. Back to stock she goes.

By the way..LOVE you sig snrusnak. That should be placed on our Money/bills too.
