Default Antenna base

Does anyone know of an easy way to get the antenna base off? I have a Cravenspeed Stubby on the way and was going to Plastidip the base due to fading, but the nut on top with the three slots does not want to seem to move. Is there a specific tool for this? Thanks

I think I used a bigger flat head screw driver and a hammer. Definitely not the best way but I think I lightly kept tapping at it till it came loose. Or maybe two flat heads and try and turn it that way. I tried a couple of different ways but I can't remember how I finally got it.

When you get the nut off a pull the plastic piece up, if I remember you need to be careful so the "connector" piece doesn't fall down the hole. I did the same thing your doing but it has been awhile. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips! I tried a screwdriver and hammer but didn't try too long because it made me nervous. Lol I will give it another shot.

Yea it's not by any means the best method, very nerve racking. I think I may have also tried needle nose pliers. It is starting to get to me that I can't remember how I got it off.

Good to hear you were able to get it off without messing the nut and truck up.

Actually once I used the channel locks, it was much easier than taking time to mask it off and spray it. Came off in 10 seconds. Plus it was really windy the day I did it and I would have had over spray everywhere.

+1. When I did mine there was a good enough breeze to make things messy. Plus for me I thought it was easier to have it off and get it covered good and even. Turned out perfect to.
