Yes the LED turn signals act as the DRL. When turning they will flash, once you finish your turn they will go back to being on all the time. If you ask me, instead of orange/amber they should be clean white like the new GMCs!

I kind of like the orange/amber actually. It's something different as there are a ton of vehicles with white LED DRL's running around now. You wouldn't think it would be rocket science. If Canada requires it and there is a country change option on the computer, Canadian ECU's aren't any different.

Back in early 2013 there was a recall to enable the DRLs on some Canadian 1500s that didnt have the DRLs enabled when shipped from the US.

A US dealer may have access to that recall flash that enabled them.

If I remember the TIPM is what holds the DRL info, I watched the dealer do my '10 quad headlight that at the time everyone on the forums said was not possible. Only thing was once they were turned on they could not be turned off unless the TIPM was replaced and reflashed with the original US flash. From what I understood at the time that was done so people in Canada could not disable the DRLs.

The first dealer I tried yesterday said they could turn them on but could not turn them off. Then the second dealer I went to couldn't even find the option. If I have the first dealer turn mine on, should that activate the LED amber lights and not the low beam lights?

I think the new electrical architecture introduced with MY13 has done away with the TIPM. The BCM is now the module in charge, it is more of a name change and incorporation of both BCM and TIPM in to one module.

The schematics I have do not show a TIPM, the headlamp wiring is sourced by, "MODULE-BODY CONTROL".

When my kid was turning on my DRL, both settings he changed were in the BCM.

Since you have access to the tech (your kid in this case) any chance you could get him to list out the steps he took (like Reverse did in the previous page) so it would be specific to the RAM?

Its possible there is no more separate TIPM, I havent looked into the '13s much but looking through the module list it appears the BCM does everything now.

It would be nice if someone figures it out where any dealer can do it, I think it would be great to have the LED DRLs..

Yep, I need him to turn mine back on since the last service visit resulted in software updates that reconfigured me to as-built. I'll pay attention and document the steps. Remember, he is using a PC with their PC based tools and not a dealer tool. Regardless, the steps should be the same.

I'd pay money for a copy of that software .... just sayin.
