Awesome,

Is that Chrysler Diagnostic Engineering Tool something that all dealers have? I have similar tools for GMs (I used to write some ECU code) but the Tech2 the dealers used couldnt access a lot of things I could. I know they have StarScan and Witech for Chrysler.

Using the Chrysler Diagnostic Engineering Tool:
He selected the BCM, ECU Configuration 2 (CBC Features), DRL Configurations. From the drop down he selected Canadian DRL.

Next he selected DRL Lamp Location, (just below DRL Configurations) and from the drop down selected Turn Signal DRL.

Last, he clicked on the write button, cycled the ignition, and wala, DRLs are on again.

Sorry the pictures of the computer screens are blurry (guess the phone camera didn't like the screen) but you can make out the data.

Don't know what the Chrysler service bay tools are, like you I come from GM and now Ford.

Since some have reported that their dealers were able to active their DRLs I have to assume these steps will help them. My son told me they use some star something gizmo.

Wouldn't you have to be able to access the data base to change the country code in the TIPM and the instrument cluster to Canada?

If it is like the IT. Department at work, you only get the software installed for you. When you need software/programs you turn in the notebook computer and they install the software/program and return it to you. My computer will not allow me to install any program/software. I'm locked out and do not have administer control.

With Windows you just can't download the software/program off the computer, you need the original program.

A reply from Chrysler after asking if I could get the DRL on my 2013 Longhorn activated at the dealers. I really didn't expect a different answer I just wanted the satisfaction of ask the question anyhow.

Thank you for contacting the Ram Assistance Center in regards to your
2013 1500.

Unfortunately if the Daytime Running Light feature was not equipped to
the vehicle from the factory, there is no resource possible to
"activate" this feature in the vehicle. This is unfortunately a way the
vehicle was designed.

While a more favorable response could not be provided, I appreciate the
opportunity to review your inquiry with you.

Thanks again for your email, Wilson.

Sincerely,

Jeff

Seems like GM is the only one that doesn't have a problem equipping their US vehicles with DRLs. Don't know why Ford and Chrysler have an issue with in but as everything in the world of automotive, there is a dollar attached to the decision.

I got Ford to enable DRLs on my Focus, but Ram wouldn't try. I ended up installing my own and they are very nice.
