Default Moving to North Dakota

Hey guys..I'm from NW Ohio moving to Minot, North Dakota next month
I just bought an 08 Ram 2500 4x4 with the 6.7 ltr diesel..I know how cold it gets up there and I'm looking for any suggestions to keep my baby warm enough up there..I know it has the block heater but the owners manual says to get the arctic oil service which I have planned to get done at a local dodge dealer on Thursday..it also suggests getting battery blankets..can you guys help me out here with any suggestions?

Thanks a bunch for your help..looking forward to many proud years of ownership of this truck..

Travis

I had a battery blanket on both my vehicles when I lived in Wyoming. I got mine at a local auto parts store. You can also get them online. They are readily available.

North Dakota? Seriously? Must be something good up there for you to decide to go there...

Good luck with the move and the job hunt!

I like the wrap around type...easy to get on and off, works just fine.

Good on you for choosing to do something instead of whining about the job market- I wish you well!

I just came back from williston, nd looking at oil jobs. I hope the housing thing works out for you. I personally witnessed guys living in their trucks in the walmart parking lot. I was told housing is one of the biggest issues in that area because of the oil boom there. Good luck.

Might consider taking a trailer with you to get started, if any question about quarters. Bet you could sell it in a heart beat if not needed! Take a "wrap around" skirt for it, too. Had a cousin go up with a motorcyle and tiny camper behind, to work for the summer. He has pulled his "Camper" coast to coast and up to Alaska, living in Wall Mart parking lots most of the time. Had just over 100,000 on his Harley when I last saw him.

By now I assume you're in North Dakota, so welcome!

I too am from ND, I live about an hour East of Minot, but I work in the oil fields so I am all over the place. (mainly been by Watford city, Killdeer, and Williston. Tiny little stint there North of McGregor.) If you have any questions of the area, or anything, or just looking for something to do in Minot let me know!
