Pointless because you're comparing apples to oranges. Even completely stock trucks end up sitting at slightly different heights from the factory. And then trailers are a completely different story. EVERY trailer is different. So no matter what people tell you they're using for a drop hitch it is irrelevant because you know nothing about their actual truck height or trailer set up just like we know nothing about yours because you didn't tell us. So I can tell you that I use a 2 3/4" drop. But does that mean anything to you? No.... because I use it to pull a flat deck car trailer and when my truck was stock I guarantee it was lower than yours.... so as I said, it is all irrelevant.

What highlandchef said below is 100% correct.

Most trailers are around the 17" mark for hitch height but not always; I have two different trailers and both require a different drop so I have an adjustable. So if it helps one trailer needs a 4 inch drop and one has a 6 inch drop. I use airbags to stiffen the rear of my truck. If i didn't use the airbags I would need less drop for my trailers because the truck would squat a bit more.

Actually Im not comparing anything to anything else, Im just curious. As I already said, I know how to measure for what I need already. It was a simple question, thats all. Some of you seem to be reading more into it than what it is. If you dont want to answer it, theres no need for you to even respond to the thread. I dont care if you think its pointless information or not.

And BTW, I specifically said Stock height 4th gen Ram 4x4, so I id in fact, mention the truck height.

Highlandchief is the only one that answered the question so far lol.

Do you think running a 180 thermostat will change the size of drop hitch I will need?

I ran a 2 1/2 on my 2wd 1500, on my 4x4 2500 it's wayy off for towing my boat however. I'm thinking I'm going to have to jump to a 3 1/2 drop.

Pulling a large cargo trailer however worked perfectly with the 2.5 on my 2500 however, so as stated, it's all about what you need.
