If you want a 2013, only Fleet order taking stop on 04/30/13
We the Public will still be able to factory order them for a while longer

2014 factory orders will start being taken some where around June 6th
2014 Ram production will start up about July 22nd

Everything should be available at start up, even the Start/Stop for the 8 speeds ?
& the Limited package, which is supposed to be available June 5th approximately

FWIW, I was at my dealer yesterday test driving a Hemi 8 speed and talking about ordering a Hemi/8spd/CC/6'4" Longhorn. My sales guy indicated I need not be in any hurry deciding whether to order a '13 now, or wait and order a '14 later. He said they always get at least a few weeks warning before factory orders close for the model year. But he hadn't heard anything about a drop dead date for ordering '13s yet, so I probably have at least another three weeks to order one, maybe longer.

He also said, and he emphasized that this was just his best guess, that he didn't think I'd actually be able to order a '14 until August at the earliest. Said even Sep. wouldn't surprise him. Granted, he's a salesman, wanting to sell me a truck NOW, not later. But he seemed pretty tuned in and definitely better informed than most salesman I've met - put it this way, I liked him enough I'm going to buy my next truck from him. He said everything has been so backed up and delayed for the '13 model year that it's hard to imagine things getting back on the normal schedule for quite some time. Expects it to get ridiculously bad when they start taking orders for the diesels, which - and again this was just his guess - but doesn't think Ram will have their crap all in the right pile on those until January.

Oh, and he told me (again, just giving me his opinion), that if I ordered the '13 right now, with all the options I want, it would probably take three months before I get it. He showed me on his computer all the orders he has in already that have been sitting at D1 forever and said with the CC/6'4" and other options I wanted, he wished he could tell me something better, but honestly thought I should be prepared for a 3 month wait. Note - he knows he's not selling me a truck from stock.

I'm going to think about it for the next four or five days. But by middle of next week, I'll either go ahead and order the '13, or have my mind made up once and for all to just sit tight and wait for the '14s and possibly even wait most of another year for the diesel option.

An awful lot of speculation and opinion above, I know... So take it for whatever you think it is worth. I do think it is safe to say that factory orders for '13s aren't going to be stopping until well into May though.

Yeah and a sales guy I had been working with told me that due to "inflation" the price of the Ram would be increasing by $100 each month I wait. They'll say anything to get you to order now. I don't trust any of 'em. Hopefully some day soon I'll find a sales person that I can trust.

Yeah, definitely need to take anything like that with a large grain of salt.

For myself, I think realistically, I'm looking at ordering now and having a '13 sometime in July, or ordering in late June/early July and having a '14 in September.

Probably have a better deal on the '13 now, than I'd get for an out-of-the-gate '14 order. Maybe...

There was a thread similar to this posted a while back and someone made the point that for the Ram 1500 the incentives when orders open up in June (or whenever) won't be near as good as the incentives going on right now.

I have no idea how truthful that statement is but it makes sense. For me, I'm looking at ordering a Ram 2500 where the incentives stink anyways (a whopping $500). So I'll probably just wait until the 2014 orders open up.

If I was in the market for a 1500, though, I think I would probably just take advantage of the current incentives and order a 2013.

I debated the same issue, order now or wait for '14 models. I chose to order a '13 Longhorn (order went in on 4/22) because, even if I have to wait 10-12 weeks, I'll still have my truck for most of the summer. It seems logical to me that the initial orders for the '14 will be very high which will most likely delay delivery. For me it was "bird (or RAM) in the hand is better than....blah, blah".
