Someone on here posted a spreadsheet of engine and rear gear combos and tow ratings. Try a search.

ive. got the same thuck. chysler has my vin at about 6600lbs. after some research ive come to the conclusion that the truck, hemi, and 8speed with 3.21s are more than capable to tow the same as 6spd with 3.55s. the 8spd has better gear ratios in the lower gears 1-6 that provides more tork than 1-4 in the 6 spd. i feel that chysler rates the trucks by axle ratio, not on hemi, trans, axle, combo. i have another thread 3.21s vs 3.55s, that has gear ratios in both trans posted. if the #s are corect, you can deside for yourself if your truck is capable to tow the weight. IMO the 8spd will tow just as good with 3.21s, not to mention better mpg. 19.9 so far on first 3 tanks of gas, 80% of which is hwy, not under a load.

I would only be concerned if you are towing more than the rating and are stopped by law enforcement. Not sure what can happen if you are over but I assume it would not be good news. IMO only though

You will also find it on the door sticker and should be the most accurate since it is based on the speciif build of your truck.

If you get pulled over for an infraction, like the trailer swaying

Besides the lecture, the officer is going to look at the stamp or sticker that is seen when the drivers door is opened
the officer is going to look at the stamp or sticker on whatever is being towed, it is usually on the towed vehicles tongue
then the officer will check out the towed vehicle, the hitch, tires, license plates
at some point you will be asked about the passengers & if anyone is riding in the towed vehicle

just the door sticker & the towed vehicle sticker is enough information for the officer to have called for a set of portable scales or to escort you to the nearest public scales, if the weights have been exceeded

Commercial vehicles, ( 1 ton rating on up ), that exceed the weight limit, get charged $1 or more for every pound over the limit in California

We all should understand just what everything means on those stickers or stamped plates

The gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), or gross vehicle mass (GVM) is the maximum operating weight/mass of a vehicle as specified by the manufacturer[1] including the vehicle's chassis, body, engine, engine fluids, fuel, accessories, driver, passengers and cargo but excluding that of any trailers

Gross combined weight rating refers to the total mass of a vehicle, including all trailers. GVWR and GCWR ( Gross Combination Weight Rating ), both describe a vehicle that is in operation and are used to specify weight limitations and restrictions

Gross trailer weight rating specifies the maximum weight of a trailer and the gross axle weight rating specifies the maximum weight on any particular axle.

Curb weight describes a vehicle which is "parked at the curb" and excludes the weight of any occupants or cargo

Dry weight further excludes the weight of all consumables, such as fuel and oils
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Definition: Gross Vehicle Weight Rating
It’s how much weight a vehicle is designed to carry. The GVWR includes the net weight of the vehicle, plus the weight of passengers, fuel, cargo and any additional accessories. The GVWR is a safety standard used to prevent overloading.
