Default So frustrated with the dealership

I ordered front tow hooks for my Sport. I also made an appointment for the dealership to install them as we'll as install my Bilstein's 5100's.

Fast forward to the appointment and the service guys didn't know how to
Install the Bilstein's. after huddling together and talking about it, they told me my Bilstein's were missing a needed part. They said there needs to be a ledge for the spring to sit on. They said there is one on the truck already but it's fixed to the truck and will need to be cut off and a new one installed. I knew this wasn't right so I told them to forget about the shocks and just install the tow hooks.

So after about an hour, they come out and tell me they can't install the tow hooks because they didn't come with the required bolt to secure them to the frame. I have no idea why it took them an hour to figure that out. The install of the tow hooks shouldn't even take an hour.

Not to mention they estimated to install my bilstein's would cost $400. I'm at another shop and they are doing it for $150, which includes the alignment. The guys at this shop couldn't believe the Ram service guys didn't know how to install a new shock.

I've been saying it on here since I bought my truck, our trucks are great, but the mechanics at the dealerships are complθte morons who have no business fixing our trucks. These guys really make me lose faith in the brand. They are absolutely clueless.

But really, what do you expect they hooked up the computer and the truck did not give them a code that referenced a service sheet that gave them step by step instructions and a detailed list of tools they needed and a billable time to bill for no matter how long it would take.

Got my Bilstein's installed for $90 (tax included). The shop said they checked and my truck did not need an alignment so it saved me a bit of money.

My truck looks so much better now and the ride quality is great.

I got a quote of $70 for the front two. I thought that was pretty damned good.

These guys were evidently incompetent, but there ARE some good dealers out there. A few bad apples........

Lmao, I did them myself in my driveway that's on an incline and had no issues installing them, think you need to change dealers. I set mine to 2.1 and then brought it to be aligned, it needed it, was off 30% all over.

I'm curious about the tow hooks for the Sport. I thought the Sport wouldn't accept tow hook due to the front bumper and facia configuration being different from the other models.

Since it seems I'm wrong, where do the aftermarket tow hooks mount? How strong are they in comparison to the factory hooks on other 1500 models? Are the factory hooks also bolt on? Sorry for so many questions all at once.

They fit, but part of the plastic panel on the front needs to be cut as there's no hole for the tow hooks.

They aren't aftermarket, they are the factory tow hooks on the other models. They bolt up exactly the same

Good info. Thanks. Its a big decision to cut my front end open. Can it be done clean enough that it looks "factory" built?
