Exclamation Urgent - New member needs info

Hello all, just signed up for this forum. Seems to be a great deal of info available and lots of good reading.

I'm about to purchase a new 2013 Laramie Crew (coming from 2010 Tundra Double Cab). The only issue I'm debating is how much room is in the back of the crew cab?

I have a german shepherd dog (80lbs) and one of the main reasons for getting a new truck (I know crazy but....) is so that I can put the dog in a crate on the floor of the rear seat area. From looking at photos and the truck in person it looks as though a large dog crate should fit with the seats folded up but I'm not sure. I do know that I could not put a kennel inside the Tundra regardless of how much I tried. I'm thinking the Ram is bigger but I don't know.

Before I go spend $50,000 on a new truck does anyone know if a dog kennel will fit in the rear of the crew cab? Photos are always great as I'm sure there are other dog owners on this site.

Any help you could give would be great as I'm trying to get this truck in the next day provided the dog kennel will fit.

thanks

the under seat storage may give you problems with the crate being level. I don't crate my dog in the truck...So maybe others could help out more...

That is the only way to really know. Either that or take the crate to the dealer and ask it you can try it out.

I don't create my dogs either when in the truck. It's going to be close... Take the create with you to the dealership and see if it will fit. Trust, me if you about drop 50,000 on a truck, I'm sure the dealership will have no problem with you sizing it up!

You may want to also look at getting the fold flat seat.

This will allow the back floor to be level. However, this will raise the create higher then floor level, allowing you to have less room for the create. Or, you can make something like this... (Took this image from HardCharger77 from another forum)..

I think the hard part would be getting the crate through the door. Why not put the crate in the bed? That's what I do when I take my 60lb boxer/hound mix. I just secure it to the back wall with bungee cords

or spend that $50,000 and train your dog to just sit in the back seat and behave itself on a blanket.

I agree, the biggest hurdle will be the door opening size

The FOLD FLAT FLOOR, i believe comes in 2 styles
where the back seat cushion raises up & the fold flat floor can be extended out, almost to the back of the front seat
the other style, the back seat lays down & becomes part of the floor

The difference may depend on the cab style
Crew Cab or MEGA CAB

Thanks guys, the door opening isn't an issue as the crate can come apart and then put it together inside the truck. It would be nice to get the flat floor but this particular truck doesn't have it (and neither does any of the others around these parts), I can always build a platform to solve that I hope.

I wish I could go measure the rear of the truck but the dealership is 4 hours away so that isn't an option right now. The crate is 36" long, 25" wide, and 27" high if that can help someone answer this for me?

I let my dog just roam around the back seat of my Tundra but that is one of the main reasons for getting the new truck, I'm not that comfortable with the dog loose in the vehicle and would much rather put her in the crate.
