I work for Kenny Ross, one of the big 3 groups in the Pittsburgh area. Funny thing is, before I worked here, I looked at a F-250 at our Ford store. The salesman was so terrible and they insulted me so bad on my trades it drove me to the Ram dealer beside my house. Got great numbers and they bent over backwards to get me the truck I wanted, great dealership! The right dealer makes a world of difference.

Of course I need to take the long way home and creep through their inventory hahaha!

Never have to worry about the engine as long as you take decent care of it.

Negative:

Unloaded ride compared to 1500 sucks
MPG's will always suck until you delete it
Deletes void warranties
If you don't do the deletes and don't pull heavy loads often your MPG's will suffer more because the truck will do regeneration's more often to clear out the DPF filter.
Requires a more... in touch operator(Allow for warm up times in the cold season, plug it in etc)

Sorry for jumping in but I figured I could offer my limited insight since having that 2012 cummins not to long ago.
Doug, you swapped back to a 1500. Why?
You had a pretty sweet Silver one as well

I'm one of those who wanted one just cause. Pulled heavy ever once in a while. I was able to afford the truck no problem but as said above they are an investment. Any mods you want to do really cost a lot more. The major mods that are almost required once you see the difference, deletes, are illegal. I prefer to keep my truck legal so I don't have to go back and forth with aftermarket/stock parts just to get tags! This doesn't apply to everyone but it did to me. Not to mention deletes cost a lot more thanks to the recent EPA thing with banks I think it was.

Me personally I read manuals and suggestions from owners when I buy something new. One of those things was about getting the truck good and hot every time it's ran. I had the hardest time with this because of my short drives.

If you didn't plug it in on a cold night and didn't have time to let it warm up I drove like a granny until it got warm so I didn't hurt any seals etc... Sort of started to annoy me.. A lot. Then I started to see the effects of it. MPGs suffered greatly because the truck would go into regenerations and just burn the fuel away just to clean out the stupid DPF filter.

I could handle the ride but the diesel and the regenerations started to bug me.

I loved that truck but it just wasn't practical for me at all.

If I was to do it again I would get a 13. Sure they use DEF but they get A LOT better MPGs and shouldn't be plagued by a clogging DPF filter.

All of this was just my opinion and my reasoning for going back to a 1500.

And I will probably be in the same boat as you with your reasonings on ditching the 2500 for a 1500

I knew this forum was bad for the wallet with mods.. But this thread is opening up a whole different book.. Especially for 1 individual .

One day once this issue called school is out of the way, I will get myself a nice big all black cummins and join the squad.

Man I have been crazy busy with the new job that I haven't been able to touch the truck. I have put over 1500 miles on it in a week though.

Hoping this thurs to get Bedliner sprayed in and window tint. Still debating on lift.

Too late to get signed up for that sort of thing??

BTW, sorry Ram725 for treadjacking. I love your truck and can't wait to see what you do with it! If your last one is any indicator, this one should end up pretty beastly. Wish I had the money to make my wishlist come true on mine!
