the only thing most people don't like about the hughes kit is the gaskets supplied with it. the ebay pan allows you to go out and buy whatever gasket you would like. if you price things out in the end they end up costing about the same.

now you could also check your local Craigs list. i have occasionally seen a intake with the aluminum pan bolted to it already go for about $100.

There's really almost never anything good on CL around me. I'm going to take a look at the junk yards on Tues. though, I'll make sure to bring my magnet. Maybe I can get the throttle body with it and do the poor mans mod.

Again, thanks for your help!!

that would be pretty nice. i have thought about doing the throttle body mod but was hoping to get a spare throttle body first just in case something gets messed up by accident. the person that sells the aluminum plenum pans on ebay use to also modify and sell throttle bodies pretty cheap. i don't know if he still does them or not. can't seem to find them.

Looks like his wife is just selling clothes and he's selling the pan.... http://www.ebay.com/sch/trisa34/m.ht...&_trksid=p3686

It looks like the bored TBs are selling for about $200 a pop. I doubt it's much cheaper to have a machinist bore it out though.

Yup, that's him. I searched for bored, not ported, that's why those never showed up for me. I might have to do that in the future.

I'd recommend the Hughes kit. Comes with all the gaskets, new bolts, the plate, new o rings for the bypass hose and a new hose from the block to the intake. I'd also do the distributor cab and rotor while the intake is out.

I already have the bypass hose. I can just hope I don't need the manifold bolts!! So that leaves me with this, right?

Can someone tell me how to bleed the fuel pressure? I did the cap and rotor already, it seems loose, but I can not for the life of me get the screws any tighter. Here's the old cap, it looks messed up.

there should be a valve on one of the fuel rails for checking fuel pressure. should work just like the valve in a tire. press the thing in the center an pressure should be released.

What he said. There's a port on the right side fuel rail with a cap. Just press the valve stem and it will bleed fuel pressure.

The manifold bolts in the Hughes kit are just a grade 5 bolt with a washer. If you get the size, you can pickem up at a hardware store.

As for the distributor cap, I had to use longer screws to get mine tight.
