Do my marks look a little off or am I just seeing things?

How do I line them up together?

got 2 options. 1 you stick the harmonic balancer back on so that you can rotate the crank or 2 remove the spark plugs so that the engine should turn freely.

OR you can turn the flywheel if the inspection cover is off, OR you can put the center bolt in the crank shaft and turn it with a wrench/socket. Just remember not to over-tighten it.

The easiest way would probably be to slide the harmonic balancer on enough to catch and it should turn easily enough by hand especially without the drag from the accessories usually attached to the front of the motor.

But I'm guessing you've already figured this out.

Thanks! I ended up just slipping the HB on and turning it, that was way easier than I thought it would be. The timing gears came off super easy, I was hoping I wouldn't have to go get a puller to get that off too. The new chain and gears are installed. Should I put some grease on it or just let it run dry until the oil gets to it? (same with the crank seal?) What kind of grease should I use if any?

For future reference...the bottom gear (crank). Just tap it with a chisel between the teeth on a 45 degree angle. Splits it in one shot and it falls off.
