aFe Cold Air Intakes Stage 2 Magnum Force Air Intake System
Part # 51-12402
I installed this today.
2013 ram express 4x4.
Overall the install is super simple. I found that the only earl issue you will face is how you want to deal with the Crank case line. The male connection on the CAI
is angled forward. It make sense that it would be, but I did not find myself pleased with the way it sat. I left it long and originally cut only a small piece about 2 inches off. It comes out of the engine cover and loops way down. It does this I am sure to avoid kinking. It still narrows enough that I wanted to change that. I wasn't comfortable with it, thinking the heat would further sag it and it would kink.
Basically I cut a small piece of the aFe hose off about, an inch and a half, and jammed in into the rubber elbow from the plastic crank case line that is at the end of it. You can see it in the pic. Cut another 6 inches off the aFe crank case line hose and jammed it into the other side of the elbow and put a tie on it. This made me feel like it wasn't going to move.
Otherwise it is a slam dunk.
One note is when you are putting the metal heat shield on to the bottom of the stock box, the side of the metal go inside and the front (towards the fender) go on the outside of the box. I was putting the front (by the fender) inside the box lip and it was loose and didn't want to stay clipped. I also EVER SO slightly bent the tabs that connect tot the stock clips to make sure they would grab as they come flat.
It sounds f*@#king awesome. It really rounds out the sound, coupled with a flowmaster 40 series. I will probably switch to a Magnaflow after I save up for a tuner, as I have learn about chamber versus no chambered exhaust.
As far as performance, I didn't expect to feel a difference although you would think it does. It could just be an illusion because of how deep and vicious it sounds.
Any questions, hit me up.
