Default LED light Strip

I know that there is a thread somewhere, can't seem to locate it but it shows which wires that was spliced in to. I just ordered a weather proof LED strip and was wanting to splice them into the dome lighting so that they will come on when open the dorrs, unlock, etc. They are going to be stuck on the step bars angled at the ground. Basically light up the ground at night when we are getting into the truck. I am sure that I can get it ran the right way on the drivers said but in others opinion, would it be best to run the passenger side all the way over or is there somewhere I can splice into on the passenger side?
Thanks for all input I can get.

Howdy!

I just installed a set of Recon Big Rig light bars that have the courtesy light feature that you are wanting to achieve with your LED strips. I couldn't find a place to splice into on the passenger side, so I ran the wire up into the engine bay and across the firewall to the driver side, spliced the passenger and driver side wires together, then passed them through a grommet in the firewall into the driver's foot well, right behind the brake pedal. Then snaked them up to the access panel on the left side of the dash (seen when you open the driver's door) and spliced into PIN #13 (dome lights).

Here's a link to my write up including a few pics showing where my bars are mounted and a video of the bars in action.

This helpful post illustrates the access panel I previously mentioned and the pin location for the dome light wire you will need to splice into.

Hope this helps! Have fun, it is certainly worth the effort!

Ahh, ok thank you. I will take some pics of it once i get them in and install them. I'm sure it isn't hard, just time consuming. I was just needing some input from the ones that I know have went through all the steps. LOL. but yeah, that writeup is def helpful. Thanks a bunch.
