Default 4.7 motor swap now problems

i blew my motor up so i got a new motor... the new motor is in and the motor and tranny lined up nicely and the torque converter is in correctly the truck starts and now i have several problems none of which i had with the old motor.......///the first problem is i have a pulsation when i get over 40 mph it feels like the truck is bouncing once i go down in speed it stops i'm lost in what this could be..../////second is i put a new oil pressure sensor in and now it says i have no pressure the new motor did come with a new oil pump and i reused the screen which had no cracks or blockage in it. and i verfied there was oil in it /////the third is the ground strap it goes from block to block then where i haven't found any connection point underneath that i could see...

this motor was complete

this all might be simple items that could be fixed and id rather do it myself vs a shop

i'm lost and its killing me i have a running truck in my yard i can't use

any ideas or if you've had this issue and were able to fix it i'll take the feedback i'm running a 2002 ram 1500 with a 4.7

item #2: go to Dodge n get an OEM sensor for about $22. the POC that you got aftermarket is junk from china. i got mine from O'Rielly's for $32 n it fell apart cuz it was simply junk.

item #3: any ground connection will do, not that there is not enough metal to metal contact already to ensure a good ground.

item #1: not sure, with 187K on my 4.7L the heads needed to be rebuilt to get a smooth running motor at all speeds for me.

Can't add anything to questions 2 or 3, I think thezorfo is pretty right on there. However, problem #3 sounds like an out of balance drive shaft. It's definitely rotational based on it gets worse with speed. If it's not the drive shaft, perhaps an axle or wheel, or gawd forbid the crank. Good luck with it, hopefully you'll get a few more thoughts.

Coulda been dropped, kicked, stepped on... don't know. Don't know for sure that it is the drive shaft. Honestly, I'm guessing here since I haven't driven the vehicle. It's a rotational issue because it gets worse with speed. Rotational meaning something that turns. If it was the crank, it would bounce with the truck in park. You may have something in the tranny just a bit off as well. Start with the easiest thing to check and go forward.

The ground your looking for is on the firewall near the ac evap canister.
Under the windshield wiper cowl.

Default reply

picked up a OEM oil pressure sensor yesterday mine was 54.99 from the dealer.

i'm willing to say its not the drive shaft. since it was not removed at all and was fine when i blew the motor up

could a vaccum leak, bad coil, motor mounts be another issue

so let me ask this question could something have been done wrong with install that is causing this bounce.

or could the drive shaft got out of balance when the old motor seized up

im about 99% sure the tourqe converter was done correct it popped in twice could the tourqe converter just be junk?

it might go to a repair shop next week but i just dont want them tossing parts at this and not have it fix the issue and just rack up a bill

Will it bounce with the tranny in park and you rev the motor up? If it doesn't that pretty much rules out the motor. If you can put the rear end on jack stands and run it at speed, it would be easier to diagnose. Wish I could be more help. Kinda hard to troubleshoot a vibration/bounce over the cyber waves.
