Default Crazy Idea - But Not Really

This doesnt really have a specific place to go but since I own a 2013, I'll put it here.

I have a bright idea regarding not being able to do anything to your nav/stereo/uConnect, etc while "in motion".

They have it so the airbag turns on and off when someone is sitting in the passenger seat, why not have that same sensor allow the radio/nav to be manipulated if the sensor is activated? Which would mean someone is sitting in the passenger seat.

I mean, my passenger should be able to input an address for me, or do some uConnect things while Im driving, right?

I had this same idea a couple weeks ago. Maybe one day.

Yeah, but that's a slippery slope. Any tech savvy guy could bypass that and be driving around playing with the EVIC and not looking where he was going. Same as texting and driving, really.

It should only work with nav inputs. If an idiot bypasses it and plays with it while driving and crashes that's 100% on that person. I've found it very annoying on a couple trips in my current truck when I needed the GPS to make sure I didn't pass where I was going or something and had to take an exit to find a safe place to stop when my wife was right there beside me.

Yes, point taken. But that's what they are doing when they design these things, trying to stop the "idiots". All the while inconveniencing those who are responsible drivers.

What's the difference between an idiot and genius? Genius has its limits! How about they stop trying to control people and people actually take responsibility for themselves.

Well, if this is true...

Not sure, but I think that the lockpick might do this already.
If there was no good reason to go digging, ie. for passenger operation, it may lead people to not have a desire to attempt to modify the system in the first place.
In the case of my wife and myself, since I can not drive --legally blind, my designated job while traveling, is NAV, and radio operation, so that she can dedicate her full attention to the road.

as long as you have the
RA3, RA4 Radio 8.4 screens
use your voice commands through you smart device

if you have the RA1 you don't have Uconnect
RA2 has Uconnect

And unfortunately it only takes one idiot to kill your kids in a wreck. Oh, and the idiot will walk away from it.
