I definitely understand the point, in locking down possible distractions, from driver interaction, and "idiot-proofing" the system. I would like to go on record, stating that I fully support doing so.

I just wish, that in doing so, reasonable accommodation would exist, for instances where it would be less distracting to the driver, for a passenger to accomplish a task, while at the same time, preventing a driver from doing so.

It's a complete infringement to disable the system. People can just as easily pick up their smart phone and use the phone's navi if they want to. Everybody should have the right to choose how they handle a situation, I have no interest in being babysat.

Side note, I use google navigation on my Galaxy S4 and when my phone is synced with my truck, my turn by turn plays through the sound system and you can enter the address while driving. I'm sure that is with any smart phone, but I just happen to use android.

I have a bright idea regarding not being able to do anything to your nav/stereo/uConnect, etc while "in motion".

They have it so the airbag turns on and off when someone is sitting in the passenger seat, why not have that same sensor allow the radio/nav to be manipulated if the sensor is activated? Which would mean someone is sitting in the passenger seat.

I mean, my passenger should be able to input an address for me, or do some uConnect things while Im driving, right?
This is not a bad idea....but who knows if it will happen

But that is what the LockPick is for

So the story goes....his head was found in the back seat. The rest of his body was still in the driver's seat with his hands wrapped around his phone. Unfortunately, it's usually someone else that gets hurt, not the "individual" who is driving around while dicking with his phone. Just sayin.

That isn't a fair argument, there are many more people who text and drive without accident than there are accidents that occur from texting and driving.

Although you can use the same argument for speeding, firearms or even fast food. More people are killed by fast food, doesn't mean they should ban it.

Don't get me wrong, I don't advocate texting and driving, so many people can't even drive well WITHOUT distraction, let alone while texting.

This is such a true statement. I believe that banning texting while driving has caused more accidents, because people are trying to hide it so they are looking down. You can pass all the laws in the world, but people are still going to do what they want. Sorry my libertarian is showing, lol.
