Default HID's in the Quad Non-Projector Headlights

Has anyone done this without the projectors? I'm wanting to upgrade the lights but from what I've heard about doing it in a non-projector type headlight will blind the crap out of oncoming traffic.

I have 6k hids in my otherwise stock quads, ive aimed the bulb down to help control the light but there is still glare that will annoy traffic, I have not been flashed though.

The quad headlights have better lenses and mirrors than older vehicles that help direct the light. Yes, you will still scatter light upwards, but not nearly as bad as the older Rams.

You can swap them no problem, like others have said, aiming them properly is a must.

Sylvania's will give you a whiter output but it wont give you a stronger output. If you read there disclaimer you will see it says the following.

"Just how bright are SYLVANIA SilverStar® ULTRA bulbs? By providing up to 50% greater brightness*, they can increase visibility down the road by up to 40%*, and peripheral visibility by up to 50%.*"

Now do you see the "*" in that statement.

Here is what the "*" says in super small letters at the bottom of the page.

"*Compared to worn standard halogen"

See it for yourself here at sylvainia.com

I replaced all 4 bulbs in mine with sylvania ultras, the lows weren't much of an improvement, but I have to say, the high beams were actually quite impressive, so much so I am not going to bother with HID's, I found the light spread in height and distance to be excellent. I think they are a huge improvement over previous year models, of course IMHO.

I put HIDs in my fogs and low projectors last night. They made a world of difference in my fogs, they throw out a ton of light. Plus I raised them a bit so they shine out instead of down. As for the projectors... well, they sucked with the halogen bulb in then, and they still suck, just not as bad, with the HID. But, damn! they do look nice. Maybe I'll upgrade the projectors to 55W next month and see how they look, just afraid of the heat.

Check with Arth about the 55 watts in the stock 2013 projectors, I think he is running those in them, and HID give off more light per watt than Halogens do, so heat can be an issue when going with 55 watts over 35 watt HID's, I installed projectors in mine that had the capability of running 55 watt HID, Just not sure about the stock projectors in the 2013, and it can be a long term thing where as over a year it will kill them. Always best to be sure.
