He told me (whether or not this is true I will leave it up to your discretion) that a major cause of drone is how the exhaust exits the vehicle. So re recommended that I push my new tips about an inch and a half past my bumper cut-outs. This way “the sound waves emitting from my exhaust will not bounce off the inside of the bumper and reverberate throughout the truck”

Whether or not this is true I don’t know, but I said SURE When he installed the muffler since it’s the look that I wanted, but I have no drone and the resonators deleted. With that being said I’ve often wondered if the resonators themselves induce a drone with different muffler setups. After all they’re designed to work with the frequency emitted from the stock muffler.

I also have a spray in Armor-Thane bed liner that may aid in reducing drone since its essentially applying dynamat to the bed of your truck.

I hope you can figure it out.
Interesting theory. I'll have to ask the shop. I never thought the factory resonators could be the cause of the drone. I'm curious how much louder the 22" will be without those two little stock resonators.

to a certain extent it is true...I always say it's the piping AFTER the muffler that causes drone...when i ran the maggie where it exited in stock location without the resonator, it droned hard and was loud incab...when I had it dumped post axle..it completely eliminated the drone and to my surprise, the incab sound went waaay down. having it dumped pre or post axle makes a big difference as well...

You know, I now have like 2500 miles on the DOD18", and I noticed that the drone goes away after a while. I'm curious if the drone is related to cold Cat/Exhaust/Resonators. It seems once I have 10-15 mins of drive time on the truck the drone become more of a proper growl.

Overall, I'm quite happy with the DOD18 now.

I see everyone is talking about sound. I'm looking for more HP and better mpg. I installed an S & B cai and it added hp and about 2mpg. My 2011 hemi gets into eco mode and stays there easier than with stock air box. Can anyone give suggestions on which cat back might work best for me.

I just had a 14 installed with res and it's a low rumble at idle which is fine and sounds great when I hit the gas.

Yeah... he aint talking about cut outs like that. Lol.

He means like a valve in the exhaust pipe before the muffler that directs the flow out before it gets to the muffler so you can run straight pipe at the flip of a switch.
