If it was me and I could actually get my truck in the next several days (you mentioned 2 days) I would go for option 1 and take the 2013. Another 4 months without a truck, over summer, would be difficult to take.

the 2 days, is when it might leave Warren. then who knows how long on the train.

so in the end it is about 3month differant.

so far it's been 17weeks and the truck i ordered wasn't exactly what i wanted, because it was going to take too long to get what i wanted.

now with the delays, the options i wanted are now being shipped, and i still don't have my truck, so at this point it's down to principles or desire to get a truck now.

If nothing too extreme is different between a '13 and '14, i would say take a 2013, yes a '14 would have better resale, but you will be without a truck for a few key months, and who is to say ram wont have issues getting orders out like they did this year...

I say get the 13 -

A. Who knows what there resale value is??? I gave up predicting the future a long time ago, miles, condition, features play a bigger role than a '13 or '14 especially with no major changes. Get your '14 and get in an accident and my '13 will be worth more.

B. They are offering an incentive which seems to a good thing.

C. Any "bugs" that are worked out on for '14 production will be available for the '13. Especially since your truck is newer. I understand not wanting to take a new truck in and wanting it fixed before you get it but I have been on the boards alot over the last 4 months and there seem to be a lot less problems here lately.

D. Waiting 4 months "if" everything goes perfect when you have waited this long I would want to be driving my truck. LOL

Good Luck either way.

You make some good points.

here's my thoughts
A) I'm looking apples to apples, in four years assuming i drive either one exactly the same, in the '13 i have a 4 year old truck in the '14 i have a 3 year old truck, milage will be low in either case, so the younger one is worth more. granted anything can happen,

B) incentives will be the same in either case for me

C) the 13 i get, was built nearly 2 months ago, so it may have bugs

D) i've waited 17 weeks, and i'm not getting what i wanted in the first place, but this is where the decision will be made, how bad do want "a" truck NOW, versus, how bad do i want the exact truck.

Therein lies the answer.

Forget the dollars and cents of this because in my opinion its a moot point if you hang onto the truck for more than 3-4 years.

If what you ordered isn't really what you wanted and they are willing to give you the incentives and more on the 2014's for the truck that you do want, then I would suck up the summer without a truck.

However if all they are going to do is give you the same options on the 2014 that you currently have on order on the 2013, then there is no point in waiting.

Take the extra $1200.00 the dealer is giving you and see if you can buy some of your missed options?

I did something similar with my Big Horn. I wanted the blue but there were none anywhere to be found with the options that I wanted.

My dealer gave me what I thought was a killer deal on a black one so I took it. If I decide in a few months that I want the blue truck, then I can have it painted and still have money leftover.

Good luck with your decision, I know it's not an easy one.

This is what makes all the difference to me. What didn't you get??

Sounds like you have made your mind up no easy decision for sure.

I still don't think there is anyway that anyone can tell me what their truck will be worth in 4 years entirely too many variables and if you have 2 EXACT trucks one is a '13 and one is a '14 and the manufacturer hasn't made significant changes how much difference is there.

Also the older one technically would have less miles which makes a difference?
Example: 4 years from now
A '13 with 50,000 miles ( 4 years = 12,500 miles per year)
B '14 with 48,000 miles ( 3 years = 16,000 miles per year)

Also not sure if this applies to you but if you wait for the newer truck then while it may be worth more if you finance it you will owe more as you will have made 3 more payments on the '13.

Again if it was me and having reread your post I think I would wait for the '14 because I would want to get exactly what I want, not because I think it "might" be worth a little more in a few years.
