Thanks for all the replies everyone. It was a tough decision but with everything I have going on right now I decided on the warranty route and made an appointment with my dealer. That was the poll favourite choice.

I think I will put the spare tire on the right front when I bring it in for service so I don't have to worry about air gun socket marks on my rims. I think there is something wrong with me

Have warranty replace, then get 5100's and you'll have two healthy stock shocks hanging on the wall in the garage.

My left front was leaking, just replaced it last week, at the dealer and under warranty. Less than 7000 miles on the truck. Lets keep an eye out for more leakers !

Although my poll selection was #3, #1 is a good choice and for your situation, sounds like the best choice. Nothing wrong with having the manufacturer pony up to replace a defective unit. Best of luck with it and maybe down the road when the shocks begin to fail from age and mileage, Bilsteins might be possibility.

Yes I think so. Maybe when the OEM tires wear out.

I can't vote because of my answer.

I would go with #1 AND #3. Have the dealer replace the shock(s) under warranty, after-all that would be free and their obligation to you as a customer.

Then I would go with #3 for a better ride as stated and retain the factory equipment.

Well I got the shock replaced at the dealer. Rim looks good. No scratches on it, no dirt on seat or steering wheel. No other functions were performed. No pinion nut (08/11 build date), no ECU flash, no nothing. I assume that is a good sign.

Only problem is that they installed a black shock when the Outdoorsman has the red shocks up front. I mentioned it to the service manager when I made the appointment and he said "don't worry, the system won't let us order the wrong part, it's based on VIN". So anyway, it's not like I'm going to bring it back to have them tear it apart again. All the more reason to get 5100s sooner rather than later.
