Default Best hids from smoked headlights

I have 2011 ram with smoked stock (dual) headlamps, I am looking at ddm 35watt 6k for headlights and fog lights. My only question is: would the 55watt be better for the dual lights or would it glare to much and blind everyone and get me pulled over more than my smoked lights already do.
Also is there anyway to improve the distance of light besides the hids?

35W is plenty for your stock head lights. They will light up the nigh like you can't believe. 55W would be overkill and you'd be more likely to be flashed.
Only way to improve distance is to get off road lights which are illegal on the street.
With the 35W lows and fogs, you will be lighting up the town with ease.
