I got the amp steps for $1050 shipped.

If the steps hit something they stop and retract. If you want to clean them you hold your foot on them and close the door.

They are very nice steps.

I've got these steps and its one of the best purchases I've made for the truck. The wife split some jeans getting in the truck one day and demanded I get some steps.....so I went all out and got the Amps. As for offloading, they do have pinch technology and will stop moving in either direction if they come across too much resistance. The only negative I have about them is that the lighting wiring on the drivers side is just barely long enough so I've had to splice in a little bit more wiring to keep from stretching or breaking the wire again. Been in some thick mud a couple times and no issues otherwise. Highly recommend these steps!!

@SRWSugar, lol nice wife story. Mustve been a good laugh for you :P Yeah I have read and kept getting told about the pinch tech but I have a problem with something like that.. "When it encounters to much force" well like, how is that force calculated? Whats the numerical number of that point of no return? I would have a great peace in mind if I had the option to be able to turn it completely off. So I went and asked Amp Research and just waiting for the reply. Thanks for the info on the drivers side being to short. Ill keep an eye out for that if I happen to get these bars.

I asked the same question back in March, immediately received this response from George Kohler <George@amp-researchdotcom>:

Quote:
Ok Tim, you would need to run a switch in line with the trigger wires for the front doors coming from my wire harness that when activated will ground the wire. This will make the step go down and when activated again will lose the ground and the step will retract. OR run a 30 amp switch in line with the ground (black( wire that attaches to the battery coming from my wire harness and this will cut the power. Open both doors, activate the switch once the steps have deployed and they will now stay down until you activate the switch again and close the doors.

I then asked him:
Quote:
OK – Thanks a lot George… I think I understand both of your suggested approaches.

So if I installed a SPST switch with one pole to GROUND and the other in series with the trigger wire for the driver’s step, I’d be correct?
To which he responded:

Quote:
Yes. All our steps need to operate is a ground signal to open and a loss of that ground signal to retract.
I haven't made time to do it yet, but it shouldn't be too hateful a project...

Anyone got pics of these on their Ram, especially a crew cab, I'd like to see em folded and extended. I have white truck, interested in getting a set of these possibly, but want to see how they look. Thanks!

I just put them on my mega this week. I know it's not a crew but it gives you the general idea.

With them closed you have no idea the truck has steps. I've even had comments of "how do you get in that truck with no steps" then you open the door and they're in awe.

I have several on-line videos, love the steps, even after the minor adjustment/alignment issues...watch in on YOUTUBE - it should show the after video as well...
