Default 2002 Ram 1500 autotrans will not shift!

The automatic transmission on my 02 ram 1500 will not shift out of 1st gear. It has enough fluid, just will not shift. I tried turning it off and on, poping it into nutral, and truning the overdrive on and off. None of these simple steps helped. What could be wrong with it. I would take it to a shop but I'm not made out of money ;-) any help is appreciated!

Change the filter and fluid in the trans...might have dirty oil and its not flowing trought the veins in the trans. Take it to jiffy lube or something 100 mucks worth a shot .. Maybe less

I agree with the trans service. I would NOT however take it to jiffy lube. They will pump it out not change the filter. The kit is about 15 bucks at Oriellys and The fluid is cheap enough. My 02 1500 did the same thing. I changed the fluid(yes it can be messy). But its worth saving the couple hundred or more to let some one else do it. Unbolt the pan a little at a time. Slowly dropping the pan dont try to do it all at once it will go every place. When you get it down the filter has 2 bolts holding it up remove them. Put the new one on. Note the pan gasket is reusable. Pretty nice. I actually put a 6$ drain plug in mine to make it easier for ther next service. I think i spent 90 bucks or so for everything and it took about an hour. Shifts great. So i saved cash and got to do it myself.
