Default Put me on the right path!

Gents,

Looking for advice from some guys that have some experience with dragging their 4th gen. My long term goal is to supercharge mine 2012 Reg cab short bed 4x4. I have done quite a bit to get things setup for it and with the exception of the mechanical fan delete and catch can I think that I am ready to go. In the mean time I really want to start taking the truck to the local 1/8th mile track.

Now this is where the help comes in. With minimal funding right now I was contemplating for the short term just getting 2 light weight rims and drag radials for track days. I was looking at a 28 inch tall DR since I have 3.55s in the truck. Also, if I only run the rear 2 tires at 28 inches would I have to remove the front drive shaft to keep from hurting things? What are your guys thoughts/opinions?

thanks in advance for the support.

You do not have to remove the front drive shaft i ran 295/45/17 on the back with 305/40/22 in the front when i brought mines to the track all you have to do is disable the torque management

all you have to do is it leave it in 2WD
....there's no way to disable Torque Management.

What "can" do is disconnect the front wheel speed sensors to disable the ESP/ABS

My first and only night running rear DR's only...best time was only 14.6's/92mph

(about a week before installing my Ground Force 2/3 drop kit)

Ever since I run all 4... it's another 60lb less weight, 3" ride height drop for better aerodynamics
looks much better, I can rotate them and they will last twice as long, and if track prep isnt 100% I can use 4WD/AWD for better traction without worrying about blowing up a transfer case...

See my mod list below been doing this in my 4G since 2010
(also a 4x4 RCSB with 3.55's )
13.8/98.5 at 2500+' DA...is about 13.4 seconds @ 102mph with DA converted

I already have my Ripp Supercharger waiting to install and have transmission on order being built to handle boost from L&M Customs (member name MGH)
if you think you can run boost on a stock transmission you are dead wrong, budget another $3k+ for a "built" trans or you will be sorry.

Black hemi, thanks for the info. I am sure that I will blow the trans but hey that's part of the game of horsepower isn't it!

Do you have a tuner yet?

If you run smaller rear tires without changing tire sizes in the PCM,
your computer will incorrectly read speed faster than you are actually moving and would hit the governor before the end of a 1/4 mile track.

For an 1/8th mile track you'll be okay though.
Seriously consider a higher stall TC if you want to get your 60' times down to 1.8's

Yes I do, I have a diablo sport with HEMI fever tunes. Thanks for the info, I only have an 1/8th mile track locally. Question for you, do u you do much towing with your lower truck or is it mainly just a track truck?

Total track toy, only thing it hauls is ass.

I've considered removing the receiver hitch completely,
but it requires a different bracket to remount the bumper.

I should probably just roll pan the back end to save weight.

before, bone stock

after drop...

after Drop and DR's

cant wait to run it in 4WD with 500whp and a built/tuned trans !!!

I hear ya! If I didn't have to buy a new car I would have had the money for a supercharger by December. Looks like I have to push that back now. Your truck looks great, I would love to lower mine with a ground force kit but I use my truck quite a bit to haul and tow stuff. I am worried that I will be screwed if I do. My trailer alone has a tongue weight of 250+ lbs.

As long as you hook up well, remove the spare tire. Every 100 lbs is a tenth in the quarter mile. As far as stock transmission, I've sprayed a 100 shot many times but I run a Sonnax line pressure booster. 185,000 miles and no transmission troubles, yet. hehe
