Default vararam vs volant vs Afe

I had a volant previously, and aside from a few filter fitment issues, it seemed like a solid intake.I have found myself in an 04 hemi again, andI would like to try something new.I have always heard great things about the vararam, but it is thd most expensive. THE afe looks good and I like how it replaces the air box thats attached to the tb. But it does stick the filter down low, which makes me worry about sucking in water in our winters/raining times, same with the vararm with the hoses.

Anyone have experiences with either of the above? Should I branch out or stick to what I know?

I had the vararam on my '08. I really liked it. Installation was a pain in the ass and it did seem a little wobbly but over all it was a good intake and I was glad I had it.

There are so many different brands of intakes out there and they all do virtually the same thing. I went with a K&N over at Moes. They were the cheapest and installation was a snap. No complaints here!

The stock system is actually very efficient, and already is a true cold air intake. I personally would just get a high flow panel filter ( Green Performance, K&N) and save the bucks towards a more effective mod. If I HAD to choose one, I would go with the Vararam, since it's the only one that will net any real gains performance-wise, and will be capable of supporting any future mods easily. JMO.

The Vararam is the worst choice for us in the Great White North
...its a snow sucker !!!

A guy from Calgary posted pics the first Winter he had his a couple years ago and the filter element got clogged and soaked after driving in a heavy snow storm.
Removed and sold shortly afterward at a loss, lesson learned.

I've had a K&N drop-in, Airaid and now a Volant with extra intake ram-tubes
...the Airaid and Volant were very close in performance and I'm sure the rest are similar too (aFe, S&B, K&N etc..)

Airaid did not seal tight to the underside of the hood, but the filter was HUGE!

Volant 100% sealed and had a port on the bottom for extra air tubes , Powercore filter never needs cleaning, no oil, good for 100k miles
and is very efficient, my track times did not change when I ran it with no filter at all, so I know it flows very well...

I'm guessing my newest K&N will kick the crap out of all of them

pic of my buddies install, mine isn't on the truck yet.
