Default Towing MPG test.

Tonight I had the chance to tow for a decent distance so I thought it was the perfect time to see what she'd do.

Truck: Regular cab express, 2wd, 3.55 gear, tonneau cover, afe intake, Super Turbo Muffler. That's all I can think of that could be related to mileage.

Load: Single axle landscape trailer with dovetail and shorter gate. It has a blower rack loaded with a backpack blower. I had my ZTR on there as well. Overall it weighs about 2,200lbs.

Conditions: Partially flat to rolling hills, 65 degrees. Drove 70mph for most of the trip with sections of 50 due to construction zones. I used cruise control and turned "tow/haul" mode off since it's a relatively light load and I had no stop and go driving.

Results: 18.14mpg hand calculated.

Really can't whine with those figures.

What fuel grade were you running, over what distance was the coverage, what engine do you have and how much fuel did you have in the tank?

Just curious....

Grub out!

Not bad at all. I made a cross-country trip (VA to MN) to pick up a boat. Got over 22 on the way there (without a trailer, obviously) and just under 12 on the way back. Boat and trailer weight in at about 5500 lbs

Not bad at all. I just put away my 17' alum bass boat and only get around 17 1/2. I tow it a few times a year over 500 miles in a weekend. Always get better on the way back from elevations.

No problem. I started off with a tank full of 87octane gas. I have the 5.7 Hemi and I covered a hair under 40 miles. Not a long trip by any means, but the longest I've taken with my trailer so far.
