I don't know anything about the CDT's. If you are going to spend that much money on speakers you better get an amp to run them off. If you don't get an amp they will sound just as good as the oem speakers. Well not really, but it wont sound that much better.

A lot of money for a set of speakers. I hope you have listen to them. JMO.

Yes this I know. I just have never heard them in person.

As for the price, that is nothing. I would actually say these are on the cheep end.

CDT = Clif Designs.. Been around for year, I believe they also still made in the USA and Europe, not China. Good stuff, as with any components it is best to hear them installed in a vehicle, store displays rarely mimic the auto acoustics.

I have ran a few sets of cdt speakers through my years doing installs, and have always been a fan. I believe the first set I used was a set of 6.5 euro sport components, fantastic sound and with great mid bass and the tweeter didn't seem to bright or harsh. those were run using something like 175-250w rms and using the factory crossovers. I am currently running the hd-642 3 way (6.5,3,1). Really enjoy these speakers, albeit the tweeter is a bit harsh at high volumes. I believe this is due to the fact that I am running the tweeter straight off the internal amp on the JBL MS-8 and simply havent dialed it in quite right yet. the speakers have always been solid, had a little bit of issues with one crossover (weak solder on a terminal, warranty replaced no issues) and one speaker (my own fault, 3" crossed over too low and blew it that way). they seem to handle the power very well for whatever you throw at them. the hd's that you listed are the same as the ones I'm currently running I believe, at least the tweet and 6.5, different crossover obviously.
