Default anti-knock sensor code

hello i bought a 2013 v6 8 speed 1500 dodge ram two weeks ago and the check engine light was on from day one. the dealers service dept said it would not hurt to drive it until he had contacted the factory as what to do. should i worry about this problem? thanks for any advice you can give me.

My advise would be to get something in writing, stating they told you to drive the truck until the can find a fix or get you a rental.

Do you hear noticeable pinging/knocking? If so don't drive it. If you don't hear it it'll probably be fine. There are knock sensors that retard timing to prevent engine damage. Unless they are faulty(might be, hence the code).

You could use higher octane temporarily for additional pinging resistance. 89 or 91. The higher the octane the more resistance to pinging/detonation.

I've never seen a check engine light for this, not sure what it would be. Maybe a faulty sensor.

thanks for your quick replys. the service manager said he had never seen this code either, so he thought it might be a glitch. i dont hear any pinging and i did put in 89 octane gas. i will try 91 next. i forgot to say they already changed out the electric 8 speed shift knob and wiring. they found that problem when checking out the codes. other wise the truck is good on gas milage. the temps seem high at 224 for water and 224 for oil. the trans run about 190-204 not towing anything. dennis
