Default Upgrade to external amplifier

Hi

I have an 09 crew cab with the non alpine 6-speaker system. I upgraded all speakers with aftermarket equipment and installed a backup camera and Jvc navigation head unit. I did this myself and feel comfortable doing this type of work.

I feel that I need an amp to avoid clipping I am getting with the Jvc unit. And, well, more power is always good

I've never installed an amp. Where do people install the Amps in rams? Do you generally do direct connect to the battery ? How about upgrade the thin gauge wiring to the speakers?

I have a feeling that this has been tackled before so if you can point me in the direction of a write up that would answer three questions I'd very much appreciate that.

Thanks

I have seen most people on here run the amps from the behind or under the rear seats. Yes you run the power right off the batterie but make sure you run a fuze in line with the power cable. As for run the speaker wires run all new 14g or 16g wires from the speakers directly to the amp.
