Default Can I Borrow a VIN?

Hey guys, as part of a project I need a little help.

I'm looking to upgrade the stock inverter that powers the dash outlet to a pure sine wave aftermarket one with slightly higher output. As long as I'm doing it, I'm also hoping to upgrade the in dash outlet from a two to a three prong. My understanding from the info I've found is at least some of the 2012's came with a three prong outlet, where the earlier 4th generations only have a two. The difficulty is searching for parts the '12 has the same part # for the outlet as the earlier models.

So here is the favor. Can someone with a 2012 confirm that they have the three prong in dash plug, and if you do can I borrow your VIN? With the VIN they can search for the specific part and see whether or not it's available.

Thanks in advance.

my truck is a very late 2012 and it only has 2 prong in it. ive never heard of them using the 3 prong. Maybe it was only offered in the 1500.

Ebay has ton's of VIN's. Head over there and find a truck with the options you want, and use that VIN.

None of the 12's came with a 3 prong outlet since the 3 prong outlet usually means the item with the cord exceed the limits of the inverter.

The owners manul says not to use an adapter as well.

Mine is a mid year build, and it is 2 prong.

2012 RAM, believe he was built in August 2012 - will need to confirm.

Is this the 3 prong everyone's talking about?

Crude, but no. At times I use my truck as an office so I need more power. The pure sine wave is safer for electronics.

That is it exactly! I want to find one of those outlets so I can wire it into an 09. Hopefully with a VIN they can track down the part.

I'll drop my dealership a line and see if I can't get a part number for you.

They may have been later builds but the three prong in a '12 does exist

Brilliant; I should have thought of that. The first 12 I looked at had what I was looking for. Thanks and

That would be greatly appreciated. So far it's been like chasing a unicorn.
