I didn't quite understand what you meant here by remove the tray, Yes, that is the ultimate goal. After 2-3 minutes of feeling around for screws near the seat and getting frustrated, I accidentally popped up the rubber 'tray' you mentioned. I had no idea the entire thing wasn't plastic!
But yes, once the rubber filler tray is pulled up, the two socket screws are visible, 4 inches down, uhm, what? It really needs them 4 inches down? Any ideas on what I can use to cover up the holes once it is removed? I don't want junk falling into them.
