Default CD player question

07 Ram with 6 disc changer, radio plays fine but when I put in a CD, I only get sound from the passenger side speakers. Any ideas?

I'm no audio expert by any means but once the signal leaves the head unit, it's traveling on the same path no matter where it originated (CD, receiver, auxiliary, etc). So if you have signal to all speakers with one output mode but not another, the problem is obviously inside the head unit and probably specific to the circuitry that routes the CD player output to the output wires that go to the speakers. An electronics repair person could almost certainly isolate this and even repair it but it doesn't sound like something you can do much for in your driveway.

***EDIT***
Just realized that was your first post. Welcome to the forumz!!

Thanks for the Welcome and quick reply. Guess I'll try digging out the cleaner disc I have buried somewhere and run that through first and see if it helps. Maybe a little dust on the laser.

Certainly can't hurt. Being a 2007 model, you probably have an aux input also don't you? When the CD player in my 2006 stopped working (it wouldn't read a disc at all) I simply started using my Ipod hooked to the aux input. You can make a playlist and set it to playing just like a CD.

Unfortunately no, for some reason only the single CD unit has the aux input, disappointing because I'd rather plug in my iPod or iPhone as well, that's a feature I'm missing already. I see trip to Best Buy in the near future for one of the aftermarket inputs for it.

No kidding? That's strange. I know this is a silly question but are you certain it doesn't have an aux input somewhere? The ones on my wife's Ford Taurus and my Ford Edge work vehicle for example are basically hidden inside the center console. They could be very easily missed.

What type of aftermarket input do you have in mind? Seems like I have seen ones that splice into your FM antenna input and insert the signal there. You have to mount the actual aux input jack somewhere. I am considering just swapping the stock receiver for a digital media player. Functions as an FM receiver and has ports and jacks for digital input such as a USB or Ipod/Iphone but does not have a CD player. Who needs a CD player with an aux input though right? You can get a good middle of the road unit for around $100.

I've looked everywhere including center console (wife's mustang has it there). And no mention of it in the owners manual. I have an aftermarket deck in my 95 Ram, it has HD radio, CD, Aux input, USB and remote control, got it for $120.00, might have to just go buy another one of those.
