Default 13 exhaust?

I just called a local muffler shop to get a price on adding a magnaflow 18" muffler and they said 350. He said that he would have to replace all the pipe and possibly the tips. He also said the Magnaflow muffler doesnt fit in the space that was why he had to replace the pipe. What type of pipe is on the trucks stock? i thought it was stainless? I want to make it a little louder and throatier but dont wan drone. What muffler will work? Is it something I can do myself?

I'm can't help but I'm seeing a few posts about mufflers and exhaust being put on the trucks and I'm just surprised how inexpensive it seems to be. What does that $350 include? If its just the muffler then its a little steep but if that includes all the pipes from the engine then its not bad. IV never messed with the exhaust of any vehicle so I have no idea how much it would cost but I always assumed in the thousands.

Try Flo-master they have a muffler that is special for the 2013. I just purchased one for our 2013 Laramie.

The price was for the cat back and it was aluminized pipe. Didnt include tips if my stock ones could be used. Is the Flow Master a bolt on muffler?

The stock pipe is stainless and no need to replace it, yes a replacement muffler will not be as big as the stock but they only have to add a little pipe to make it fit! Try mufflex they are direct swop for stock exhaust and cost about $75 less and you can install it yourself by just unbolting the stock muffler and putting this one in its place

if you just want the muffler replaced and they say they can't do it, find a new muffler shop.

I just had a Magnaflow 14" installed for $226. $80 (Got it on sale at Advance Auto) for the Magnalow, $26 for the 3" stainless pipe off eBay and another $120 for actual install. Sounds like this guy is 1) Marking the parts and/or labor up OR 2) hasn't worked on these trucks and is just going with worst case scenario.

My advice is this: Shop around. It isn't something that needs to be done yesterday so take your time. Buy the parts when they are on sale and if you need to sit on them for a few weeks no big deal.

Good luck.

I thought the exhaust was stainless but the muffler shop said it wasnt. I may call a couple more places and see what they tell me.
