If you have the dough, have them coated inside and out. This will make them more efficient and drastically reduce underhood temps.

I've spent way too much money lately, so id rather not. Especially if I MIGHT have to go buy the diablo hemifever tuner to replace my bullydog.
So the headers are 100% bolt on right? I plan on doing it myself at my buddys shop using his car lift. Any pointers would be awesome!

I would never spend big coin on ARH's without Ceramic Coating them, only way to make them last...
Specially if you're in a part of the country that gets snow, ice and salt covered roads in the Winter.

My track bud MGRAM just spent over $1k on coating his whole exhaust
from block to tips....ARH LT's and an MBRP CatBack:

Just waiting for our new transmissions to arrive from MGH to install it all at once

Very nice! Way to make me feel bad, but I can't justify spending that much more. Mainly just rain up here, sometimes snow.

Ceramic coating will also reduce under hood temps by 20-30º, or more
Un-Coated LT's throw off some serious heat compared to smaller stock iron manifolds. Heat kills HP no one can argue that.

Have you ever see guys at the track pushing cars with the motor off and with the hoods up?
it's because a heat soaked engine is a slow engine, period.

If I didn't have the cash for coating,
I would simply put off installing them until I did, Dead serious!

It's only $300- $350 more to get them coated, and they will still look like new 10 years from now instead of like rusty shyte after 10 months.

To answer your other questions, it took two of us 5 hours to install shorty JBA's the first time, cut it down to just under 4 hours on the second install.

...and no a Bully Dog is not going to help you,
LT's should really be custom tuned to get the full HP/TQ benefits.

No Coating and no Tuning...you would have been better off with shorties
Why spend that kind of Ca$h on LT's only to piss away 20HP ???

...sorry if that sounds harsh,
I just hate seeing HP going down the drain needlessly.

Then I'll have to get hemifever soon then, not that big of a deal. Maybe I'll get lucky and sell my BD. Ha, I'm not worried about your attitude, I work in a mill, bring it on.

Coatings aren't worth 20HP... Yes they help with keeping the heat in somewhat. But lets face it. Once the primaries hit 1000 F coating or not it's hot hot hot under the hood. Hot lapping at the track is the inevitable... And after a few years of use silver ceramic coatings look like shit on a daily driver.

If you can afford it do it... If not it's not the end of the world... Stainless headers can take a beating

Appriciate your input bud, thats how I figured it. Guys at work say the same thing. Would be nice to have but not needed. A friend at my work has a 71 AAR cuda, mint condition matching numbers car that hes owned since 73.. and has major work done to it. 550+ hp. I always get advice from guya here on the forums then ask him ha.

Ceramic coating is great and helps for sure but if the headers are SS they should last. Now depending on if you're up north in the salt/snow maybe that will take it's toll but I know several people with uncoated SS headers here in the south with 10+ years and 100k+ miles and no issues at all other than color change.
