Default Chrome tubular sidesteps all foggy?

My new 4 day old truck has the chrome tubular sidesteps on it and they just look all foggy or hazy. The sidesteps on my 2011 Ram did the same thing and it seemed like no matter what I could not make them shiny. Are other people noticing this also? What could cause this? They were like that the day after I brought it home. I know they are stainless steel and not actually chrome but what should I look for to make it shine and stay shiny, at least for a longer period of time? It annoyed me on my older truck and once I saw that the '13s had a different style of step I was happy thinking it wouldn't do it any more but I was wrong.

Thanks!

I've noticed this too on my truck, they are not the wheel to wheel side steps.

Mine are not either. They are cab length on my crew cab. Will never dull be a good cleaner for the stainless?

Mine were foggy the day I bought it.
They are on an Express reg.cab
I tried everything I could think of to make them shine but it's impossible.
Don't waste your money on stainless cleaner.

Dip them sidesteps, Nike! Then you won't have to worry about the shine!!!

I'm just not sure about the plastidip. It seems like it would peel off the first time a foot slid on it getting in the truck...

Then Line-X or Rhino Liner them. I'm gonna do the dip and see how they hold up. Eventually, I'll probably get a liner material for them.

I'm gonna take mine off. Don't need them and besides, they shock the hell out of my leg when I step out. (I never step on them to enter or exit)

Mopar side steps suck. Mine started flaking one month after I bought them on my 11. Never bought mopar on my 13 and no problems thus far
