Default Does gas mileage improve after first oil change?

My gas milage goes between 14.5 and 15.5km to 100km

My friend who has a 2012 gets 13km for 100km

How long is the break in period?

By your numbers you are all ready getting better than your friend.

If you are doing a lot of city driving, then it is typical to be around the 17L/100km.

When I took mine out on the highway and did a 2 1/2 hour run, then my milage dropped to 12.1L/100km.

Apparently there is a break in period with all vehicles, so according to that, then your milage should get even better after your first oil change.

I haven't got that far yet, so I don't know?

I hope that helps?

I've heard about 5,000 miles before the mileage gets better, but I really didnt notice much of a change. I get about 15km per 100 right now with a mix of city/hwy

i don't know what the measurements are in the Metric scale
but
i get 17.4 miles per gallon across fairly flat highway
i have 86,000+ miles on my Ram w/ the HEMI
your Ram is likely lighter then my work truck
so your mileage should be even better

That works out to approximately 7.5km/litre.

There is approximately 3.785 litres per US gallon

So that means that (based on Toronto's current gas prices) @ $1.35/litre

$1.35/litre x 3.785 (litres in a gallon) = $5.11 (rounded up)

So $5.11 x .97 (current exchange rate) = $4.95 USD/gallon

So all that means is that you folks south of the border can't complain about your gas prices anymore. Hahahahaha......

My last tank of fuel yielded 22.5 mpg hand calculated. This was combined city/highway. My truck has just over 6000kms. This converts to approximates 12.53 l/100 kms. My very first tank of fuel yielded 701 kms on 100.1 liters which works out to 19.77 mpg city/highway. that looks to be about a 9% increase since new. I am positive on a straight highway trip I would achieve 25mpg with this truck.

Hemi, 3:55 and 8spd.

No, an oil change does not improve mileage unless two things are done.
1. Us full synthetic oil
2. restrict depressing accelerator pedal so hard and abrupt. Drive smoothly.

So sick of seeing that...it's all relative! If gas goes up 50% it doesn't matter what it cost before or cost after, only that it went up 50%. If you have a long commute that can make an enormous difference.

And please folks, it's fuel. Let's be inclusive. My truck doesn't use gasoline.

Sick of seeing it or not, it's still a fact. We pay more for the stuff that makes our vehicles go than you do. (see what I did there, I didn't call it gas).

Ya that's a great website.

We also have a radio station here in Toronto called 680 news, that will give you an update so many times a day about if the price of gas will go up or down in the next 24 hours.

Those two gas stations that you mentioned aren't all that close to me, but if I am out that way I will stop there and fill up.

Lately I have been running mid grade just to see how the truck runs. The cost of the mid grade near me is $0.10/litre more than what it is 18km away.

The other day I was out near the cheaper gas station and filled up for $128.00. My quick math tells me that was a savings of $12.80.

So if I'm out that way I will fill up for sure, but don't know if I would drive the 20k to do it.
