Default All day clean

Spent most of the day washing, cleaning and waxing my truck and wife's car. My butt is dragging. Anyone recommend a good DA for the waxing part of detailing? Thanks, Sean

Everyone seems to like the Porter Cable 7424 XP. As for you, wife should massage your shoulders and bring you a few cold ones! LOL.

Feeling better, cold ones and rub down complete. I've heard good things about the PC and also the Maguires. I see some good deals on the PC right now but have to figure out what pads etc... I'll need. By hand today but used ICE and it was the easiest wax I've ever used. I know with the buffer, my options are much more. Thanks, Sean

The PC is great and so is the meguiar's machine. the Meg's has just a bit more power to it.

for the smae type of machine (free floating spindle DA), the Griots Garage machine is great and has a lifetime warranty...but it is more powerful than the two above.

depending on your budget, a step up from those machine is the Rupes (also a free floating spindle design) or the Flex ( forced rotation DA).

the difference is in a free floating spindle design when you apply too much pressure the pad stops spinning. in order for correction to happen the pad both oscilates and rotates. while the free floating spindle design is VERY safe for even an inexperienced user, it will stop correcting in some body panel designs (deep impressions/ridges etc).

therefore the forced rotation design of the Flex is a better choice and still pretty safe because of constant oscillation and rotation. it is less likely to burn through paint like a rotary and has all the power in the world to correct...and even faster than some of the free floating spindle designs. but this power comes with a price, and a bit of a learning curve because the pad rotates counter clockwise.

If/When you decide on a machine, i can help you with the pads....
